The Savannah is an extraordinary breed with a fascinating history, unique appearance and a personality that makes them truly unforgettable.
THE ORIGIN OF THE SAVANNAH
The Savannah breed originated in the 1980s when a domestic cat was bred with an African Serval, a wild cat native to Africa.
The resulting kittens inherited the Serval's striking appearance and the domestic cat's friendly nature.
Through careful and ethical breeding, the Savannah has evolved into a remarkable breed, with multiple generations that bring together the wild beauty of the Serval and the loving temperament of the domestic cat.
TEMPERAMENT
Savannahs are known for their intelligence, curiosity and loyalty. They are highly interactive cats that enjoy being part of family life.
Each Savannah has their own personality, but many share these wonderful traits:

APPEARANCE

EXPRESSIVE FEATURES

UNDERSTANDING SIZE & GENERATIONS
Every Savannah is an individual. Generation can influence the likelihood of a larger, more Serval-like build, but it does not guarantee size. Genetics from both parents, sex, bloodline and individual variation all play a role.
F1
Closest generation to the Serval. Often tall and athletic, but individual size can vary considerably.
F2
May retain a substantial, long-legged build, although there can be significant variation between individual cats.
F3
Size and build can vary widely. Some F3 Savannahs may be larger than cats from earlier generations.
F4
Typically more established as a domestic-generation Savannah, but there is no fixed size associated with F4 cats.
F5 & LATER
Later-generation Savannahs also vary in height, weight and build depending on their individual genetics and breeding lines.
A Savannah generation describes ancestry — not a guaranteed size category. Two Savannahs of the same generation can mature very differently, and a later-generation Savannah may sometimes be larger than an earlier-generation cat.
